💼 Free Business Resources for First-Time Founders
Thinking about starting your own business or buying a franchise?
These curated resources are here to help you take the first steps with confidence.
All tools and guides are free, updated for 2025, and carefully selected for aspiring entrepreneurs, franchise buyers, and service-based business owners.
Most people start their business search online through platforms like BizBuySell, LoopNet, Franchise Gator, and Flippa. Others use business brokerage firms such as Transworld Business Advisors, Sunbelt Business Brokers, and Murphy Business Sales.
These brokers represent sellers and are typically paid 10% of the business sale price or $20,000+ by the seller — which means their incentive is to close a deal, not necessarily to find the right fit for you. That’s why having a dedicated, independent coach working with you — not paid by the seller — is a game changer.

Before you buy a franchise, understand the hidden costs and legal pitfalls.
Most FDDs (Franchise Disclosure Documents) heavily favor the franchisor.
What You Need to Know Before Buying a Franchise
Franchising can seem like a shortcut — but there are critical facts most people overlook.
The Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) is a legal contract between you and the franchisor, and it’s almost entirely written to protect them, not you.
Monthly royalties range from 7% to 15% of gross revenue, locked in for the full 10-year+ term, whether you're profitable or not. Even if you master the business and do all the work, you’ll continue to pay these fees — with zero flexibility.
When you sell, you can’t just hand it off; you must go through their approval process and pay their transfer fees. Upfront franchise fees for service-based businesses start at $50,000 and can exceed $150,000, and that doesn’t include training fees ($5,000–$10,000), travel, tech setup, or mandated overpriced vendors you must use — even if they’re outdated or overpriced.
Most FDDs also include non-disparagement clauses so strict that even if the franchise harms your business, you and your family can’t speak about it publicly or privately.
While franchising makes sense for global brands like McDonald’s or Taco Bell, where brand equity drives immediate traffic, the same logic doesn’t apply to smaller franchises in home services like remodeling, cleaning, pressure washing, mobile car detailing, pet care, or lawn care.
You’ll still be responsible for paying monthly for all your own local marketing, lead generation, payroll, and systems setup — and the brand name rarely brings local customers. What franchises sell as “coaching” or “support” is often limited training and generic manuals.
P.S. -For $25K, I give you everything they promise — and actually build the business with you one-on-one for 90 days, from zero to your first 10 paying customers.
